Electronic signatures in Australia

Electronic signatures in Australia: what makes one hold up

Consent, identity, a reliable method and a record you can produce later.

Australian law does not require ink. The Electronic Transactions Act 1999 (Cth), together with the state and territory Acts, recognises an electronic signature where the signer can be identified, the signer consented to signing electronically, and the method is as reliable as appropriate for the purpose of the document.

In practice, the argument is rarely about the squiggle — it's about the evidence behind it. Yeti Doc records the consent the signer gave, their name, email, IP address, device and the exact time of every action, then seals the finished PDF with a tamper-evident hash and attaches a Certificate of Completion so you can prove what was signed and by whom.

This page is general information about how electronic signing works, not legal advice.

How it works

1

Consent first

Before signing, the recipient reads and accepts the e-sign disclosure. That acceptance is stored with the document.

2

Sign with a record

Each field is captured with the signer's name, email, time, IP address and device — nothing is guessed after the fact.

3

Seal and distribute

The final PDF is hashed, stamped with signer names and times, and emailed to everyone with its Certificate of Completion.

How Yeti Doc builds the evidence

Add fields anywhere

Drop signature, initial, text, date and checkbox fields exactly where they belong — the original document never changes.

Merge & organise PDFs

Combine several files into one pack, reorder pages and delete what you don't need before sending.

Audit-ready records

Every action is timestamped with IP and device details, and a Certificate of Completion is attached to the signed PDF.

Send in seconds

One secure link per recipient, automatic reminders for anyone who hasn't signed, and a copy emailed to everyone at the end.
