7. Electronic Signatures
Yeti Doc provides technology that allows users to electronically prepare, send, receive and sign documents.
Yeti Doc is a technology provider only.
Yeti Doc does not:
- provide legal advice;
- guarantee the legal effectiveness of any document;
- determine whether electronic signatures are appropriate for a particular transaction; or
- act as a witness unless expressly stated.
Users are solely responsible for determining whether a document may legally be executed using an electronic signature under the laws applicable to their transaction.
Certain documents may require physical signatures, witnessing, notarisation, or other legal formalities depending on the applicable jurisdiction.
In Australia, electronic signatures are generally recognised under the Electronic Transactions Act 1999 (Cth) and equivalent state and territory legislation, and companies may execute documents electronically under the Corporations Act 2001. However, some documents — such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, and certain land or court documents — may still require handwritten signatures or witnessing under state or territory law. You are responsible for confirming your document is suitable for electronic signing.
8. Legal Effect of Electronic Signatures
Electronic signatures are recognised under the laws of many countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union and numerous other jurisdictions.
However, laws differ between countries and document types.
You acknowledge that:
- You are responsible for ensuring electronic signatures are legally permitted for your document.
- Yeti Doc cannot guarantee that every electronically signed document will be legally enforceable.
- Courts, government agencies and regulators ultimately determine whether a document is legally enforceable.
Nothing within Yeti Doc constitutes legal advice.
Where legal advice is required, you should consult an appropriately qualified legal professional.
9. User Responsibilities
You agree that you will:
- use Yeti Doc lawfully;
- only upload documents you have the legal right to use;
- ensure recipients have authority to sign;
- verify recipient email addresses before sending;
- review documents before requesting signatures;
- comply with all applicable laws;
- maintain your own backups of important documents; and
- cooperate with any reasonable security investigation relating to misuse of the Service.
You must not rely solely upon automated processes without reviewing your documents.
